DHF is a severe form of viral disease that is transmitted with Aedes Aegypti female mosquito. One mosquito bite can inflict the disease. This strand of mosquito sucks blood at day light and when the lights are about to depart.
With the bite of the mosquito can spread the virus while sucking blood with a human. Virus can circulate to the blood within a couple days and can have circulatory and liver problem. This is a severe illness that affects mostly children and even adults with less immune system. The virus is not contagious and cannot be spread directly with person having dengue.
Certain symptoms of fever are fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, muscle pain, skin rashes. Illness is often also known with the sudden rise and fall of the temperature and the patient has difficulty in breathing. It can cause also abdominal pain, hemorrhage, and nose bleeding for critical cases. Persons exhibiting signs of bleeding need to seek medical attention right away. It takes time to recover from dengue and sometimes it can lead to death.
Patients need to be closely monitored in the few days to examine any reaction. Over-the-counter drugs and analgesic is not a guarantee for this infection though it can rip off the fever but the viral infection. This viral infection can complicate any other illness like pneumonia. You can go to hospital to require oxygen support and anti-inflammatory medications. It would take a week for the patient to stay in the hospital. For severe cases, a blood transfusion is needed to control the bleeding since the patience is in shock and loss blood. Taking of fluids is needed to prevent dehydration. Doctors check also the blood count of the patient to see if there are enough white blood corpuscles to fight the virus.
There is no vaccine available yet to prevent dengue. The best preventive measure is to eliminate the places where the mosquitoes lay their eggs. It flourishes in clean, stagnant water like flower vases, tires, gutter, bottles, barrels and other container or place in your backyard. These serve as artificial breeding ground for them. Proper waste disposal is best recommendation to avoid dengue. Cover containers properly or if possible get rid of them.
Sleeping with mosquito net and wearing long clothes are advisable also. Mosquito repellent is needed if for your protection. Application of appropriate insecticides and sprays are required to eliminate the spread of the mosquito in household area and even at school.
