spirit of Christmas

Season's Greeting

Among all the festivals and holidays of the Christian Church year, Christmas remains the most observed and most popular. Of course, much of that popularity, especially in the West, is due to the commercial promotion of the holiday. In many Protestant churches through the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Christmas was noted but not really celebrated. While observed in some church liturgies, there was very little in the way of gift giving and family celebration that marks the season today. In fact, until relatively recently, in the middle to latter nineteenth century, Christmas was a regular work day. In many areas of the world today, it remains a comparatively insignificant holiday even among Christians. Still, the Christmas story captures the heart in a way that transcends all the commercial hype.

While we most often think about Christmas as a single day, it is actually a season of the year. In its popular sense, it extends four weeks before Christmas Day and for two weeks after. However, the time before Christmas is a special season called Advent, comprising the four Sundays before Christmas Day. While the entire season of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany can be seen together, they each have distinctly different roles in the Church year. The term "Advent" means "coming" and is a season of expectation and hope, the time of waiting for the coming of the Messiah that is celebrated at Christmas. This time of waiting symbolizes the waiting throughout the Old Testament for the new act of God that would bring deliverance to his people. For Christians this season of expectation also symbolizes the waiting in anticipation for the Second Coming of the Christ when he will return and restore all things.

NOVember holidays...

The eleventh month of November has 30 days.
Originally, the month occurred as the ninth month on the Roman calendar - although the addition of two months (Jan. /Feb.) thereafter accounted for the two month shift later in sequence
November normally marks the transition between fall/autumn and the coming winter months ahead. The leaves have all but left the branches. Its time to winterize the home and vehicle. And the spirit of Thanksgiving ushers in holiday fare.
In United States, they celebrate every fourth Thursday of November in remembrance of the pilgrims in the states. Some may called it Veterans Day and some mostly called this Thanksgiving Day.

smile...

CHILDREN's month

FIRST, CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT BECAUSE
OF HOW THEY COME INTO THE WORLD

SECOND, CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT BECAUSE OF
WHAT THEY BRING INTO OUR LIVES

THIRD, CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT
BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY BECOME

FOURTH, CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT
BECAUSE OF WHERE THEY

To provide that direction for their children, parents must take the job of being parents seriously. Being a parent is much more than fulfilling a biological function. It means being concerned about every aspect of the child's growth and development. It means caring where the child is and who his friends are. It means knowing his interests and encouraging right and proper ones and discouraging - even forbidding - those that are inappropriate or dangerous. For a parent to say "I can't do anything with my child" is an admission of "I don't know how to be a parent".

Of course, majority of Pinoys will probably wait for the last minute Christmas shopping rush in November to December, waiting for their 13th month pay and bonuses to be released. But this not goes to only Pinoys, this is happening around the world.
AROUND THE GLOBE:
There is bound to be something happening in Bangkok while you're here. For events ranging from food and shopping promotions to shows and concerts. However,Trades and exhibitions are planned long in advance and there's something interesting happening in the Thai capital every month.
events:
International Festival of Dance and Music
Elephant Polo Tournament in Hua Hin
Food Festival in Chinatown
Moon Festival celebrations, though still relatively new to the U.S., have been held throughout Asia for well over 1,000 years. This holiday is a time to reflect upon the bounty of the summer harvest, the fullness of the moon, and the myth of the immortal moon Goddess, Chang O, who lives in the moon.
10 September. Every year
The Ancient Culture Festival celebrates traditions that originate 4000 years ago. Featuring a lantern show on the Ming-period city walls during the evening, the festival provides plenty of folk-culture entertainment during the day.
Oktoberfest is the largest beer festival in the world, with some 6 million visitors from all around the world visiting Munich's famous festival each year. This year marks the 174th Oktoberfest since the celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12th, 1810 by the citizens of Munich. In honor of the bride, the fields in front of the palace were named Theresienwiese and down through the years the event is always referred to by locals as the "Wiesn". So "welcome to the Wiesn" means "welcome to Oktoberfest"! It starts on September 22!

cancer is a threat...

WHAT is CANCER?

Cancer develops when cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Although there are many kinds of cancer, they all start because of out-of-control growth of abnormal cells.
Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion.

During the early years of a person's life, normal cells divide more rapidly until the person becomes an adult. After that, cells in most parts of the body divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells and to repair injuries.

Because cancer cells continue to grow and divide, they are different from normal cells. Instead of dying, they outlive normal cells and continue to form new abnormal cells.

Cancer cells develop because of damage to DNA. This substance is in every cell and directs all its activities. Most of the time when DNA becomes damaged the body is able to repair it. In cancer cells, the damaged DNA is not repaired.

People can inherit damaged DNA, which accounts for inherited cancers. Many times though, a person’s DNA becomes damaged by exposure to something in the environment, like smoking.
Cancer usually forms as a tumor. Some cancers, like leukemia, do not form tumors. Instead, these cancer cells involve the blood and blood-forming organs, and circulate through other tissues where they grow.

IS it a TREATH?HOW DEADLY IT IS?

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the WORLD. Half of all men and one-third of all women in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes. Today, millions of people are living with cancer or have had cancer. The risk of developing most types of cancer can be reduced by changes in a person's lifestyle, for example, by quitting smoking and eating a better diet. The sooner a cancer is found and treatment begins, the better are the chances for living for many years.

who is july?

'July' is for Julius
The Roman Senate named the month of July after Julius Caesar to honor him for reforming their calendar, which had degenerated into a chaotic embarrassment. Bad calculations caused the months to drift wildly across the seasons—January, for example, had begun to fall in the autumn. The high priest in charge of the calendar, the pontifex maximus, had become so corrupt that he sometimes lengthened the year to keep certain officials in office or abbreviated it to shorten an enemy's tenure.

JUNE bride

why do most couple wants to marry in this month?

It has been said that was named after Juno, wife of jupiter, king of the gods. Juno was the special diety of woman, and the goddess of marriage and childbirth. The Romans honored her festival on the first of June. For centuries, June has been the month of wedding. The belief is that this happened that the preceding month of May was observed for the "unhappy dead", and considered a bad month to be married, all weddding were postponed until June. However, it is interesting to note that Juno is the goddess of marriage and this is her month. There are more June brides than any other month of the year.

We are products of our past but we dont have to be prisoners of it...

Those who hurt in the past cant continue to hurt you now unless you hold on to the pain through resentment...Your past is your past!!! Nothin will ever change it. You are only hurting yourself with the bitterness , and for your own sake learn from it and then let it go..
