Some people have a wrong notion that drinking water in excess will make one fat. This perception about water makes you fat is untrue. The truth is water is the most important essential element in our body. Not only human beings need water but all created by the Almighty needs water. It is said that you can leave with water alone even without solid food intake for weeks. But you cannot leave without water because you will die of dehydration. Water is also called a nutrient. Water is the basic part of blood and tissue fluids. Our body is made up of water about 60-75 percent.
 
Functions of water
1.    Helps remove waste products through the kidney called urine.
2.    Acts as lubricants of the joints and the viscera in the abdominal cavity; thus can protect a sensitive tissue.
3.    Regulates body temperature through its ability to conduct heat.
4.    Cools the body as you perspire.
 
Excessive water loss is called dehydration. When you are dehydrated you feel thirst. Sometimes headache can be associated to inadequate water supply in your body. To maintain the water supply in your body you need to drink six to eight glasses of waiter daily. Also the water you drink must be free from E-Coli, a bacterium that causes disorders in the stomach leading to lose bowel movement or gastroenteritis. If you are not sure that the water you drink is safe, boil it for 45 minutes to one hour, depending on where it came from. Have your water examined to make sure that the water you drink is safe.
